Appeal an airport drop-off charge
Nearly every UK airport now charges to stop at the terminal, enforced by camera. These are private Parking Charge Notices, not fines, and they depend entirely on whether the terms were communicated to a driver who had a real chance to read them.
Why these are worth challenging
Terminal approaches are the worst place to read a sign
A driver arriving at an airport is following overhead signage, watching for pedestrians with luggage, managing passengers and navigating a layout they may have seen once before. Pricing information presented in those conditions is frequently not adequate notice of contractual terms.
The free alternative is often invisible
Most airports provide a free waiting area or a longer stay car park with a shuttle. If it is not signposted in time to use it, the driver was offered a choice that existed only in theory.
Two trips read as one long stay
Dropping someone off and returning later to collect is normal. Entry and exit cameras without mid-site detection can merge those into a single continuous stay, producing a charge for hours the vehicle was nowhere near the airport.
