The correct sum reached the operator. Pursuing a charge of £60 to £100 for a typing slip is disproportionate to any interest the landowner has in enforcing the terms.

The receipt, app confirmation or bank statement line showing the amount, the time and the site. Do not offer to supply it on request.

Operators can search their transaction data for a near-match registration on that date. Ask them to do it rather than assuming they will.

Common questions
Can I appeal a parking ticket if wrong registration entered at the machine?
This is a de minimis point. The charge is meant to protect the landowner's interest in managing the site and recovering tariff revenue. Where the money was paid, neither is affected. Challenging costs nothing, and if the issuer rejects you the escalation to an independent adjudicator is also free.
How long do I have to appeal?
Usually 28 days from the date on the notice, but the deadline that matters is often 14 days. Challenge within that window and most councils keep the 50% discount open for a further 14 days if they reject you. Private operators normally offer a reduced sum for the same period.
What evidence should I send?
The payment receipt or app confirmation. A bank or card statement line for the transaction. A screenshot of the session in the parking app if you used one.
Does it cost anything to appeal?
No. Challenging the issuer is free, and escalating to POPLA, the Independent Appeals Service, the Traffic Penalty Tribunal or London Tribunals is free for motorists. Voidly does not charge you either.
